MakeMN String Art Workshop: What a LOVE-ly Evening!

If you haven't yet been introduced to our MakeMN workshop series, you're missing out! Read more about it here. Our most recent workshop, this past weekend, was String Art, Dinner & Drinks. When we originally planned this last MakeMN workshop, the only design we intended to offer was a stag - but last second, we decided to add in the option for a LOVE design as well, and it was the overwhelming favorite! {and the class was such a success, that we received demands to offer another session - which consequently sold out in 24 hours...so we added another, final, session.}  *UPDATE - ALL SESSIONS SOLD OUT.  New event added for December: MakeMN at the Winery.

Our Inspiration

Our longest class thus far {it takes a long time to nail & string!} we made an evening of it - art, dinner, and drinks. We started by milk painting the boards that form the background of the project - participants chose either a stain or paint color from the Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint line. Once finished, we gave them time to dry, and took a dinner break for some yummy Italian food from Buca di Beppo! During dinner, we handed out the swag bags for the event. Not only does each participant of MakeMN take home their finished project, they also take home a swag bag of handmade items from our sponsors! Each workshop session has different sponsors - and the items are always incredible.

Handmade Leather Tassels - Crave by CRV.[/caption] After dinner, the ladies from The Vintage Studio {our workshop leaders} showed us how to best lay out our designs to make nailing 300 nails the most pleasant experience possible. They gave us all hammers & we went to town - the aftermath was much like leaving a rock concert - we were all shouting & half deaf from the noise of 12 hammers pounding at once.

We ended up with such a variety of finished looks, working with the same basic template - it was great to see all of the individual styles come through! The plans for the completed projects ranged from giving as gifts, to hanging in a nursery, to decorating living room walls.
